MAMA-Rookies Update
Ze zijn alweer een tijdje bezig, maar wat doen ze nu eigenlijk?
‘Ze’ zijn natuurlijk de MAMA-Rookies.
De Rookies Publiek zijn alweer bijna klaar, ze zijn bezig met hun laatste opdracht. Tijdens de vorige workshops hebben de Rookies materiaal verzameld en beoordeeld, zijn ze gids geweest in de Showroom en hebben ze gesproken over de verschillende bezoekers die in de Showroom komen: gezinnen, kunstacademiestudenten, toeristen, kunstliefhebbers en scholieren. MAMA kan rekenen op een zeer divers publiek en de Rookies staan tijdens openingstijden de bezoekers te woord. Momenteel staan de Rookies met z’n tweeën in de Showroom, zodat ze in de praktijk kunnen brengen wat ze hebben geleerd. Inderdaad, Do It Yourself!
De Rookies en de staf van MAMA zagen elkaar voor het eerst op een avond in september. Spannend! Op deze avond kon je kiezen welk traject je wilde volgen; Publiek of Tentoonstellingsinrichting. Verder kunnen alle MAMA-Rookies de workshops Digitaal volgen, in deze reeks workshops leren ze items te maken voor bijvoorbeeld de MAMA website.
Elke Rookie had die eerste avond een gesprekje met de staf van MAMA en uiteindelijk nemen zeventien Rookies deel aan het project. In oktober ging het dan eindelijk echt beginnen. Alle Rookies hebben toen de plenaire workshops over communicatie gevolgd. Communiceren is tenslotte voor iedereen altijd handig...
De workshop Tentoonstellingsinrichting en -productie begint in januari. Maar tijdens de afbouw van de laatste show en de opbouw van de huidige, hebben al enkele Rookies meegewerkt, zodat zij een beetje weten wat er allemaal in de praktijk bij komt kijken. De bedoeling van deze workshop is dat MAMA straks een pool heeft van ervaren Rookies waarover zij kan beschikken bij de op- en afbouw van expo's.
Ondertussen gaan veel Rookies nu eerst meedoen aan de workshop Digitaal, die tot begin februari loopt. Voor deze workshop heeft MAMA lekker geshopt en het resultaat mag er zijn: de nieuwste iMac's en twee digitale video- en fotocamera’s!

MAMA-Rookies Update
They are at it for a while now, but what exactly are they doing?
‘They’ being of-course the MAMA Rookies.
The Rookies Audience are almost finished with their programme, they are currently working on their last assignment. During the last workshops the Rookies have gathered and judged material, they’ve been hosts in the Showroom and have discussed the diversity of the MAMA-visitors; families, art-students, tourists, art-lovers and scholars. MAMA can count on a large mixed crowd and the Rookies are the ones that welcome them during opening-hours. At the moment they are hosting our Showroom in pairs, so they can practice what they’ve learned in the workshops. Do It Yourself, indeed!
The Rookies met up with MAMA’s staff for the first time on a rainy evening in September. This time you could choose which course you wanted to follow: Audience or Exhibition-refurbishment. Besides those two all our Rookies can attend the Digital Workshops, during this course they will learn to make items for, for instance, the MAMA-website.
Each Rookie was introduced to the MAMA staff and had a little chat with them, eventually seventeen Rookies are in the workshop-pool. In October things got really started; all Rookies did the general workshop Communication. After all, Communication comes in quite handy for all of us...
The Exhibition-workshops are starting beginning January next year. But some of our new Rookies have helped out taking down the last show and building the new, so they have a general idea on what’s good exhibition-practice.
Meanwhile, most of the Rookies are very busy workshopping Digital, that will run till February 2007. MAMA has been shopping around for this workshop and we are very pleased with the harvest; the newest iMac’s and two digital video- and photocamera’s!
