Een van de deelnemers aan Ladyshave Home Edition, Marga Weimans, heeft
de i-D Styling Award gewonnen in de 4e editie van de jaarlijkse ITS competitie
voor net afgestudeerde modeontwerpers.
ITS, de afkorting van International Talent Support, is een organisatie
die een brug slaat tussen de mode-opleidingen en de mode-industrie en
wordt o.a. gesteund door merken als Diesel, Mini, YKK (van de ritsen),
en de garenfabrikant Ingeo en, natuurlijk, door het vermaarde Britse i-D
magazine.
Marga's prijs bestaat uit aandacht in i-D magazine, publicatie van een
photo shoot en een bijdrage van 3.000 Britse ponden.
Deze zomer werkt Marga Weimans samen met filmmaker Jasmina Fekovic –bekend
van de documentaire Mathilde Superpoes– aan een installatie die
op 10 september in première zal gaan tijdens de Wereld van Witte
de With. Deze nieuwe installatie is een MAMA-project op locatie Arminius.
Geruchten gaan dat naast prachtige videobeelden van Jasmina en de mode
van Marga de kerk wordt aangelicht door zoutlampen en dat er een gospelkoor
zal aantreden. De installatie belooft Marga's silhouetten die op dat moment
in MAMA en in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen te zien zijn, een verdieping
in betekenis te geven.

One of the participating artists in Ladyshave Home Edition, Marga Weimans,
has won the i-D Styling Award announced during the 4th edition of the annual
ITS competition for graduate designers. ITS –the acronym for International
Talent Support- is an organisation that bridges the gap between fashion
training and and the fashion industry and is supported by, amongst others,
Diesel, Mini, YKK (the zipper makers) and the textile producer, Inego. And, naturally,
by the renowned British i-D Magazine.
Marga’s prize consists of coverage in i-D Magazine, publication
of a photo shoot and bursary of 3000 pounds sterling.
This summer, Marga Weimans is working together with filmmaker Jasmina
Feckovic – known for her documentary Mathilde Superpoes- on an installation
that will premiere on 10 September during the Wereled van Witte de With
Festival (part of the Rotterdam Festivals 2005). This new work is an off-site
MAMA project on location at Arminius.
Rumour has it that the most recent stunning video work of Jasmina and
Marga’s fashion creations will be lit by lamplights and that a gospel
choir will appear. The installation promises to bring a heightened meaning
to Marga’s silhouettes that will also be on display in MAMA and
Museum Boijmans van Beuningen at that time.
