Ladyshave in Londen
Een verfrissende samenwerkingsproject tussen MAMA en Cell opent in mei in
London. Voor diegene die een reisje naar London overwegen: zet dit alvast
in je agenda!
 Vrijdag
6 mei 2005 opent de tentoonstelling “ Ladyshave” in Cell Project
Space, gelegen in het kloppende hart van hip east London., waar alle jonge
galeries zich hebben gevestigd
Cell staat bekend als een van de weinig overgebleven kunstenaarsinitiatieven
met een zwaar kaliber en een hoog profiel. Deze show belooft weer een
van Cell’s geweldige aanbiedingen te zijn. Ladyshave is een thematische
tentoonstelling die werk van hedendaagse Nederlandse kunstenaars toont,
wiens werk thema’s als geslacht en identiteit op uiteenlopende manieren
behandelt. Het mag dan ook geen verassing zijn dat de expositie voornamelijk
kunst van vrouwelijke kunstenaars brengt.
De tentoonstelling, gecureerd door Ken Pratt, bevat werken door
enkele reeds internationaal doorgebroken jonge talenten zoals Madeleine
Berkhemer en Jennifer Tee. Hun werk wordt aangevuld door sterke
deelnemers zoals Risk Hazekamp, Martin C. de Waal, DJ
Chantelle, Liz Chute en Silvia Russel. Kortom alle ingrediënten
voor een excellente show zijn ruim voorradig!
De stijl waarmee de expositie wordt gepositioneerd is typisch voor de
energie en creativiteit van de twee organisaties. De tentoonstelling zelf
wordt gecomplementeerd door een reeks evenementen en performances en natuurlijk
de openingsparty, en belooft het hoogtepunt van de lente te worden. Iedereen

Met de goedkope vluchten van vandaag de dag of de high-speed ferry van
hoek van holland en een beetje planning, kunt u dit evenement aan een
fijn weekend London toevoegen.

Ladyshave in London
An exciting collaboration between MAMA and Cell opens in London in May.
So, if you’re thinking of a little trip across the channel, be sure
to put it in your agenda.
Friday, 6th May 2005 sees the opening of “Ladyshave” at Cell
Project Space, deep in the arty heart of east London. This show promises
to be another of Cell’s excellent offerings as one of the few remaining
high-profile artist-run spaces in London. The collaboration with MAMA, “Ladyshave”
is a thematic exhibition showcasing the work of contemporary Dutch artists
whose work tackles the issues of gender and identity in some way. No surprise
then that the exhibition primarily shows work by women artists.
Curated by Ken Pratt, the show includes work by some of the Netherland’s
internationally recognised younger talents such as Madeleine Berkhemer
and Jennifer Tee. Their work is complemented by a strong field
of talent that includes Risk Hazekamp, Martin C. de Waal,
DJ Chantelle, Liz Chute and Silvia Russel in what promises
to be an excellent show.
In a style that is typical of the energy and creativity of the two organisations,
the exhibition itself will be complemented by a number of side events and
performances and an opening party that promises to be one of the highlights
of the Spring. Watch this space for details….
