De wereld en met name Nederland maakt zich klaar voor de gevolgen van de stijgende zeespiegel, terwijl aan de kustgebieden architectuur herrijst om de talloze vacantiegangers en gepesioeneerden te herbergen. Curator en architect Adriaan Geuze vertaalde deze actuele impulsen op de architectuur als de hoofdthema’s De Zondvloed en Mare Nostra van de tweede Architectuur Biennale Rotterdam.
Een veelbelovend programma van 4 grote tentoonstellingen, talloze workshops en presentaties, evenementen in Las Palmas en in het Nederlands Architectuur instituut gaan vanaf 26 mei van start. Het City programme gaat, gedragen door diverse Rotterdamse kunstinstellingen en galeries dieper in op het thema de Zondvloed.
MAMA presenteert Der Geist ist ein Wasserfall, een overzichtstentoonstelling van werk dat de Duitse kunstnaar Klaus Weber tussen 1991 en 2005 maakte, toont een serie sociale, culturele en politieke 'fonteinen'. een overzichtstentoonstelling van werk door de Duitse kunstenaar Klaus Weber. De Public Fountain LSD Hall is een prachtige, delicate, uit meerdere verdiepingen bestaande glazen fontein, die water -waar LSD aan toegevoegd is- spuit en spettert onder een dak van vleesetende planten.

The world and in particular the Netherlands is already preparing for the impacts of rising sea levels, whilst architecture struggles to house the countless holidaymakers and pensioners in coastal regions. Curator and architect, Adriaan Geuze translates these actual impulses in architecture into the main themes of ‘The Flood’ and ‘Mare Nostra’ in the Second International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam.
A promising programme of four large-scale exhibitions, countless workshops and presentations and events in both Las Palmas and Netherlands Architecture Institute starts from 26 May 2005. The City Programme, delivered through various Rotterdam arts institutions and galleries explores the theme further.
MAMA’s contribution, ‘Der Geist is ein Wasserfall”, is a retrospective of the work of German artist Klaus Weber of works made between 1991 and 2005 and includes a series of social, cultural and political “fountains”. The “Public Fountain LSD Hall” consists of a beautiful, delicate and multi-tiered glass fountain. In it, the water –into which the LSD is placed- spurts and sputters under a ceiling of flesh-eating plants.
