Passion Platform, Vaasa, Finland in Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam.

Het begon met het idee een aantal kunstenaars het thema Finse
mannelijkheid te laten zien en het werden uiteindelijk twee
voorstellingen met de titel PASSION.
Het werkt als een estafette: Jörgen begint en installeert
zijn kunst en later komt Jouni en verandert de tentoonstelling.
We hopen je op beide openingen te verwelkomen.
Jörgen Erkius (Zweden) Opening za. 17.4.2004, 19.00h.
Woont en werkt in Berlijn. Erkius' werk is gebaseerd op performance-achtige
processen. Vaak is het een soort kringloop: het begint, gaat
door en eindigt, om terug te keren naar een soortgelijk traject
als waaruit het begon. Dit proces wordt vastgelegd. Soms zijn
foto's het resultaat, soms video. De voorwerpen die hij gebruikt
zijn verdwenen - iets is veranderd, er is een spoor van het
gebeurde achtergebleven.
Jouni Partanen (Finland) Opening zo. 2.5.2004, 16.00h.
Woont en werkt in Lahti, Finland. Partanen werkt vaak spontaan,
met of binnen een gegeven sociale context. Hij is performance-kunstenaar,
vaak in samenwerkingsverbanden, maar hij werkt ook met tekeningen
en objecten. Hij gebruikt zichzelf als object en als referentiekader.
Dit is een proces waarin een serie performances, eerder gemaakte
objecten, tekeningen en soms persoonlijke bezittingen leiden
tot een installatie.

Platform
is een tentoonstellings-en projectruimte in Vaasa,
Finland, gerund door kunstenaars en ontwerpers. Het is opgericht
in 2000 omdat er een noodzaak bestond om hedendaagse kunst
te zien, te bespreken en te praktizeren in een stad die -gezien
vanuit het perspectief van hedendaagse kunst- aan de periferie
gesitueerd is.
Platform arrangeert en produceert tentoonstellingen, projecten
en seminars met lange-termijn thema's. Veel van platform's
projecten worden gekarakterizeerd door sociale interactie
waarbij de lokale gemeenschap betrokken wordt.
Net als MAMA is Platform
een van de oprichters van het StabilityMobility
Network.

It started with the idea of showing a few artists on the
theme Finnish manliness and it ended up with two shows called
PASSION.
It works like a relay race: Jörgen starts and installs
his art, later Jouni comes and changes the show around. We
hope to see you at both openings.
Jörgen Erkius (Sweden) Opening Saturday 17.4.2004, 19.00h.
Lives and works in Berlin. Erkius' work is based on a performance-like
process. It's often a kind of circuit: it starts, goes on
and ends, returning to a path similar to the one from which
it began. This process is documented. Sometimes the result
is photos, sometimes video. The objects he uses are gone:
something has changed; there is a trace of the happening left.
Jouni Partanen (Finland) Opening Sunday 2.5.2004, 16.00h.
Lives and works in Lahti, Finland. Partanen often works spontaneously
within or with a given social context. He is a performance
artist, often within collaborations, but also works with drawings
and objects. He uses himself as an object and as a frame of
reference. This is a process where a series of performances,
previously made objects, drawings and, sometimes, personal
belongings lead to an installation.

Platform
is an exhibition and project room in Vaasa,
Finland, run by artists and designers. It was founded in 2000
due to a need to see, talk about and practice contemporary
art in a town that, from a contemporary art perspective, is
situated on the periphery.
Platform arranges and produces exhibitions, projects and seminars
according to longer-term themes. Many of Platform's projects
are characterized by social interaction where the local community
becomes involved.
Like MAMA,
Platform is one of the founding members of the StabilityMobility
Network.
