Of het nou gaat over mensen die door hun sociale en politieke omgeving veranderen in machines of over lesbische fantasieën en donkere verlangens, the common ground for deze show is simpelweg vlees.

For we exist in the world through our flesh and bone. Our meat is the library of our experiences and our skin is the surface through which we negotiate what exists outside and inside of us. (Ken Pratt)

Today, many trends in contemporary art are focussing on ideas, concepts and the realm of thought, instead of on the mere ‘vulgar' celebration of the flesh.

Meatdistrict shows work by artists who take our flesh and bones, our human body as subjective, existential starting-point. Whether it's about people turned into machines by their social and political environment or about lesbian fantasies and dark desires, the common ground for this show is basically meat.

For we exist in the world through our flesh and bone. Our meat is the library of our experiences and our skin is the surface through which we negotiate what exists outside and inside of us. (Ken Pratt)
