Showroom MAMA heeft Baschz uitgenodigd als gastcurator voor een expositie over zichzelf en zijn creatieve netwerk. En dat wordt ill: veel stijlen en alleen nieuw werk.
Baschz
Baschz' naam is vooral bekend van zijn straatwerk en de door hem en Crackrock opgerichte omni-disciplinaire interventiemacht Betamaxxx. Solo en met Betamaxxx heeft hij expo's gedaan in o.a. Berlijn, Parijs, Amsterdam (Arti et Amicitae, Kunstvlaai) en homestead Eindhoven (Mu). Zijn straatwerk is ook te vinden in ondermeer New York, Bangkok en Johannesburg. Tegenwoordig werkt hij naast zijn soloprojecten samen met het kunstenaars- en deejaycollectief Tictoc vanuit Rotterdam.
Baschz doet veel: St. Retard, tekenen, schilderen, internet, shirts, goodies, damestepels. Dubbel en drie D, binnen, buiten, overal. In zijn werk laat hij zich inspireren door de massacultuur en haar beeldtaal. Zo produceert hij autonome handgemaakte massaproducten, die industrie en commercie zowel omarmen als er tegenaan schoppen.

Lamball Bakra
De expositie Lamball Bakra draait om niet uitgevoerde plannen, schetsen, proeven, pacten en dronkenmansgelal: werk en ideeën die om verschillende redenen het atelier nooit verlaten. En daarom vaak puurder en eerlijker zijn dan het werk dat je wel mag zien! Niet bijgeschaafd, geen compromissen, alleen het oorspronkelijke idee en het plezier. Lamball Bakra is de once in a lifetime kans om te zien what the world's been missing.
Lamball Bakra is een Geuzennaam, verwijzend naar het idee dat een niet uitgevoerd plan een kwestie van luiheid is. Wrong! Het komt net zo vaak door tijd- of geldgebrek en perfectionisme.
Lamball Bakra is niet alleen een expositie maar ook een proces: 2 maanden lang is te volgen hoe Baschz het concept en de werken doorontwikkelt. En 2 maanden lang zoekt hij de interactie met het publiek om zijn ideeen scherper te krijgen en zijn eigen werk beter te doorgronden.

Rob Looman
17e eeuwse meesterschilderskills meet Rien Poortvliet's mother-in-law. Rob Looman laat zijn idioot mooie schetsen en vingeroefeningen zien: ‘Het plan is eigenlijk om vanuit planloosheid een waarachtigheid te creëeren die de fantasie realistisch genoeg maakt om er verder op door te denken. Waar het bij de "affe" schilderijen vooral gaat om het totaalbeeld, de sfeer en mystiek, zijn bij de schetsen humor en skills de motivatie tot produceren.'

Cosmic Crack and the PowerBlast Movement
Kosmisch wetenschapper en profileur in concepten all-in. ´s Lands voornaamste botanisch kunstenaar in het welbekende Kosmische genre. Van zijn vroege werk tot later werk met Betamaxxx (door Crack en Baschz opgericht) en daarna, heeft hij: 'een fascinatie voor het unieke en ongebruikelijke in de brede waaier van het al multimediale kunstwerk, inclusief diverse installaties, evenals het ontwerp van concepten die door hun innovatie en theoretische intergallactische flair onovertroffen zijn'.

Auke Touwslager, i.s.m. Ursula Lavrenčič
Crossmediale blootlegger van netwerkstructuren en nieuwe verbanden. Auke Touwslager is een mooi-weer-ontwerper, en voornamelijk bezig met zaken als internet cartografie, convergentie van informatie&architectuur en het bieden van nieuwe perspectieven over de grenzen van verschillende creatieve disciplines. Samen met Ursula Lavrenčič zal hij eindelijk vorm geven aan één van de goeie ideeën die hij al jaren geleden samen met Baschz verzonnen heeft.

Michiel Jansen
Performancekunstenaar, richt zich met tekenen, video en 3D op menselijke vormen. Michiel Jansen werkt meestal vanuit de ruimte waar hij is, en de rol van mensen in die ruimte. Deze keer draait hij het om: de ruimte als werk in plaats van gegeven. Plus hij gaat voor het eerst samen met Baschz aan de slag. Michiel en Baschz zijn buren, vrienden en allebei Tictoccer, maar hebben nog niet eerder samen aan een kunstwerk gewerkt. Nu wel.

Tictoc
Tictoc is Baschz' huidige crew: een collectief van kunstenaars en deejays. Tictoc werkt met zoveel mogelijk media en zoveel mogelijk mensen aan een belangrijke missie: goodvibes. Dat doen zij vooral met feesten slash expo's: ‘onze core business is spots rocken'. Nu gieten zij alle media, mensen en goodvibes in één object. Plus de Tictoc deejays draaien tijdens de opening en elke zondagmiddag in de showroom.

Zondagmiddag: Summertime Hangout plus Kinder Kunst
Deze zomer is Showroom MAMA (bijna) elke zondagmiddag een hangout voor kunstkijkers en mensen met kinderen en/of kater. Baschz laat nieuw werk zien, Tictoc en anderen draaien plaatjes en er is er bij lekker weer een terras. Plus we brengen die extraspecial thingalings:
- De Lamball-Bakra-Verantwoorde Koffiebar, campingsteez maar dan berelekker door Frank Djasian;
- Kamikaze Kinder Kunst met een K: Baschz laat (jouw?) kinderen meeschilderen aan zijn werk en geeft spoedcursussen StreetVandalism.
De extraspecial hangout is er elke zondag van 13-18 uur.
Kinder Kunst is er op zondagmiddagen, ca. 14-17 uur: 23, 30 juli, 13 en 20 augustus, en 3, 10 en 17 september.

Showroom MAMA has invited Baschz as a guest curator to set up an exhibition about himself and his creative network. And that's gonna be ill: many styles and many new works.
Baschz
Baschz' name is best known for his work in the streets and the omnidisciplinary intervention force Betamaxxx, founded by Crackrock and himself. Both solo and with Betamaxxx he exhibited, among other places, in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam (Arti et Amicitae, Kunstvlaai) and homestead Eindhoven (Mu). You can find his street work in cities like New York, Bangkok and Johannesburg. Nowadays he combines solo projects with working in Tictoc, a Rotterdam collective of artists and deejays.
Baschz does a lot: St. Retard, sketching, painting, internet, shirts, goodies, ladynipples. Indoors, outdoors, everywhere. His work is inspired by mass culture and its language; i.e. he produces autonomous handmade mass products, embracing industry and commerce and giving it the finger at the same time.

The exhibition Lamball Bakra is all about plans never carried out, sketches, practices, pacts and pipe dreaming: works and ideas that somehow have never left the lab. And are therefore purer and more honest than the works you do get to see. Unpolished, no compromises, just the original idea and the fun in it. Lamball Bakra is the once in a lifetime opportunity to see what the world's been missing.
The title Lamball Bakra refers to the idea that unfinished plans are a matter of laziness. Wrong! Lack of time or money and perfectionism are at least as important thresholds.
Lamball Bakra is not only an exhibition, but a process as well: during 2 months one can watch Baschz further developing the concept and the works. And during 2 months Baschz is looking for interaction with his public, to sharpen his ideas and to get a better understanding of his own work.

Rob will be showing his waytoonice sketches and finger exercises: ‘Actually my plan is to create veracity out of planlessness, trying to make fantasies so realistic they make you dream on. While ‘finished' paintings are about the overall look, atmosphere and mystics, when it comes to sketching humor and skills are my main motivation.'

Auke Touwslager is a fair-weather designer, mostly working on research and development of things like internet mapping, convergence of information&architecture and offering new perspectives that cross borders between various creative disciplines. Together with Ursula he'll finally elaborate one of many ideas they and Baschz came up with years ago.

Michiel Jansen
Performance artist, working with drawings, video and 3D, focussing on the human form. Michiel Jansen usually treats the space he works in as a starting point, focussing on the roles people play in that particular space. This time he reverses his approach: making the space his work instead of a starting point. Plus, for the first time he and Baschz are gonna join forces. Michiel and Baschz are neighbours, friends and both Tictocian, but never did a piece together before. Like Lee Towers would say: this is the moment.

Tictoc is Baschz's current crew: a collective of artists and deejays. Tictoc works with as many media and as many people as possible to fulfill their important mission: goodvibes. Sunday afternoon: Summertime Hangout plus Infant Art
This summer Showroom MAMA will be a hangout for art watchers and people with a hangover and/or children, (almost) every sunday afternoon. Baschz will be showing new work, Tictoc and others will be spinning records and there will be a terrace whenever the weather allows us. Plus we bring them extraspecial thingalings:
- The Lamball-Bakra-Approved Coffee Bar, campingsteez but tasty like a bear, by Frank Djasian;
- Infant Art: Baschz lets (your?) children paint on his work and gives steam courses in Street Vandalism.
There will be an extraspecial hangout every Sunday, 13-18 hrs.
Infant Art will take place on Sunday afternoons, 14-17 hrs: july 23rd and 30th, august 13th and 20th, september 3rd, 10th and 17th.
