Het Kabinet 30 October - 22 December Opening: Friday 30 October 19:00 - 23:00 Artist: Honet, Gues, Allergy When going out once night has fallen, like a vampire, each precious drop of adrenaline makes me feel immortal and moves me away from mediocrity. This quest for the Holy Grail took me ever further, a little deeper still, from Paris to Moscow, from the grave to Heaven: searching for unique and fragile moments in time- Honet, www.aventuresextraordinaires.fr - MAMA eindigt 2009 met een presentatie van Honet Gues en Allergy. Honet is een van de grootste graffiti schrijvers / kunstenaars van deze tijd. Hij geniet een enorme credibility onder een grote groep kunstenaars en graffiti schrijvers. Zijn reizen door de wereld en zwerftochten door de Parijse catacomben leiden hem, zoals hij het zelf zegt: "van het graf naar de hemel". Een verzameling tekeningen, foto's, teksten en films vormen zijn documentatie. Hiermee bouwt Honet, samen met Gues en Allergy, zijn tentoonstelling op in de vorm van een modern kabinet. De wereld als podium In de honderden foto's die Honet maakt, documenteert hij niet alleen zijn tags, maar ook het alledaagse leven dat hij tijdens zijn reizen tegenkomt. In de foto's wordt zijn plaats van handeling zichtbaar. In MAMA maken Honet, Gues en Allergy een fotostrip die gebaseerd is op een reis van Peking naar Moskou via Kazakstan (Beijing - Urumqui - Almaty - Aralsk - Astana - Moscow). Catacomben In zijn geboorte- en woonplaats Parijs is Honet betrokken bij de catacomben die onder het stadscentrum liggen. De catacomben zijn een beroemde begraafplaats in de vorm van een groot netwerk van ondergrondse kamers en galerijen. Het totale tunnelstelsel is meer dan 300 km lang en er liggen de resten van ongeveer zes miljoen Parijzenaars. Buiten het bereik van elk gezag organiseert Honet hier undergound feesten en zwerftochten. In Het Kabinet wordt de sfeer van de catacomben voelbaar en maakt Honet een totaalinstallatie van foto's tekeningen en films. In de show is aandacht voor de teksten en tekeningen van Gues en de video's van Allergy. Extra event: 30-10 Openingsperformance by Allergy! Honet is one of the finest graffiti writers / artists of our time. He enjoys massive credibility amongst an extensive group of artists and graffiti writers. Honet's journeys around the world and wanderings through the Parisian catacombs lead him, in his own words: "from the grave to heaven". A collection of drawings, photographs, texts and films constitute his documentary. Thus Honet constructs his exhibition in the mould of a modern cabinet together with Gues and Allergy. The world as a stage Graffiti is a way to investigate the world. Honet not only documents his tags in the hundreds of photos he produces, he also depicts daily life encountered on his journeys. In the photos his point of action becomes visible. For MAMA Honet creates a photo-strip, based on a journey from Beijing to Moscow via Kazakhstan (Beijing - Urumqi - Almaty - Astana - Moscow). Catacombs In Paris, his place of birth and residence, Honet is concerned with the catacombs that lie beneath the centre of the city. The catacombs are a famous funeral ground in the shape of a large network of underground chambers and galleries. The total system of tunnels is more than 300 kilometres long and in it lie the remains of approximately six million Parisians. Here, out of reach of any kind of authority, Honet organizes underground parties and wanderings. In The Cabinet the atmosphere of the catacombs becomes palpable and in this Honet produces a complete installation of photos, text and drawings by Gues and video's by Allergy.
