Op uitnodiging van Ton de Vos, de nieuwe directeur van het Centrum
Beeldende Kunst stelde mama een overzichtstentoonstelling samen.
MAMA heeft 13 van haar beste artiesten uitgenodigd te participeren.
Kunst en Vuilnis
Het kunstenaarscollectief Honda 98 werd gevraagd de tentoonstelling in te richten. Honda 98 is bekend om de trash-environments, waarbij zij vuilnis ontrekken aan de maalstroom van het afval van de stad, sorteren op kleur en deze verwerken tot walk-inn installaties.
In MAMA'S GREAT ASS TITS combineerden zij de ingezonden kunstwerken met een selectie van gevonden en gebruikte voorwerpen, vuilnis dus. De installatie geeft een (tijds-)beeld van het leven in de razendsnel veranderende stadscultuur en de vele beeldtalen daarin, middels uiteenlopende disciplines variërend van schilderijen tot videoloops en projecties.
De dertien deelnemende kunstenaars hebben een grote bijdrage geleverd aan het succes van mama.
De Opening vond plaats op zaterdag 2 september: Deejay Alien en Deejay De Luxe legden hun beste platen op, terwijl vier ‘poledancers' en de topless bediening voor een sfeervolle ambiance zorgden. Meer dan 500 bezoekers waren op de opening aanwezig.
Satire
De opzet van GREAT ASS TITS was aan de hand van een tentoonstelling een beknopt overzicht te geven van de activiteiten van mama in de afgelopen drie jaar. Omdat de leden van mama het wel erg vroeg vonden om een overzichtstentoonstelling te geven voor een instelling die slechts drie jaar bestond, werd er besloten om een flinke dosis satire en humor te gebruiken om de pretentie tegen te gaan. Het was juist vaak de satire die de nodige opschudding en discussie veroorzaakte.
Paaldanseressen
Het optreden van de ‘professionele' paaldanseressen belichte de rauwe realiteit van het dagelijkse leven op een openbaar podium. Soms werd mama's satire verkeerd gelezen en werd de aanwezigheid van de paaldanseressen als seksistisch uitgelegd.
Vormgeving Uitnodiging
Het ontwerp voor de uitnodiging door Eyecatchprint veroorzaakte ook de nodige discussies over hedendaagse vormgeving.
Het bureau Eyecatch is een veelgevraagd specialist in het ontwerpen van aankondigingen voor Surinaamse bubblingparty's.
Hun veelvuldig gebruik van decoratieve ornamenten en fotoshop-filters maakte de verschillen met betrekking tot de esthetiek in diverse culturele circuits duidelijk zichtbaar.

At the invitation of Ton de Vos, the new director of The Centre for Fine Arts, MAMA put together a retrospective exhibition. MAMA selected 13 of their best atrists and invited them to participate.
Art and Filth
The artist collective Honda 98 were asked to mount the exhibition. Honda 98 are known for their trash environments in which they sort through the maelstrom of the city's garbage, sort it by colour, and turn it into walk-in environments.
In 'MAMA's Great Ass Tits' they combined submitted artworks with a selection of found and used objects; garbage. The installation gives a snapshot of life in the city's rapidly shifting cultures with its many intrinsic visual languages; rolling out many disciplines ranging from paintings to video loops and projections.
The 13 participating artists had all played a large role in the success of MAMA.
The opening took place on Sturday, 2nd September. Deejay Alien and Deejay De Luxe laid on their best tracks whilst four pole dancers and topless waitresses took care of a spicy ambiance. More than 500 visitors attended the opening.
Satire
The aim of 'Great Ass Tits' was to give and encapsulated overview of the activities of MAMA over the past 3 years in the form of an exhibition. Because the management of MAMA thought is very early to be making a retrospective show for an space that had only existed for three years, it was decided to use heavy doses of humour and satire. The was exactly this satire that caused the necessary turmoil and discussion.
Pole Dancers
The performance of the "professional" pole dancers highlighted the stark reality of daily life on an open stage. In some quarters, MAMA's satire was misread and the presence of the pole dancers was viewed as sexist.
Invitation Design
The design of the invitation by Eyecatchprint resulted in needed discussions about contemporary design. The Eyecatchprint Bureau is the much sought-after specialist in the design of adverts for Surinamese 'bubblingsparrties'.
Their repeated use of decorative ornaments and PhotoShop filters highlighted the different aesthetic approaches within different cultural circuits.
