Black Ball is een zwarte vilten bal van vier meter doorsnee en hij zal opduiken op de gekste plaatsen in Rotterdam, want voor MAMA is Rotterdam groter dan haar Showroom! Door middel van deze Black Ball wil kunstenares Yvonne Dröge Wendel samen met de Rotterdammers tot een serie verhalen over hun stad komen. Het is de bedoeling dat deze trip zich grotendeels spontaan zal ontwikkelen afhankelijk van de verbazing en de consternatie die de bal teweeg brengt bij de stadsbewoners.



Stel je eens voor; een reusachtige zwarte bal die op vrijdagmorgen -hoe toepasselijk- zal starten bij het Kraamzorghotel Zestienhoven, over de Erasmusbrug rolt, lunch gaat 'doen' bij Rob Baris' nieuwe restaurant 'Het Gemaal', en gaat slapen in een gouden kooi in The Gay-Palace.

Zorg er zeker voor dat je een rol speelt in deze Rotterdamse story en kom de bal ergens tijdens zijn reis een stukje vergezellen en laat je interviewen door Radio Rijnmond, die de bal drie dagen lang volgt.

Black Ball is bezig aan een uitgebreide internationale tournee. Nadat hij voor het eerst verscheen in Leeuwarden in 2000, is hij verder gereisd naar Bolzano, Newcastle, Istanbul en Odense. Showroom MAMA haalt Black Ball terug naar Nederland waar we in september kunnen zien hoe dit opvallende object de straten van Rotterdam verovert!

Black Ball takes over Rotterdam

No mountain too high for Showroom MAMA; top-level conference with police officers was necessary to bring this sensational project to Rotterdam. 8,9 & 10 September you will have the chance to see for yourself...During 'World of Witte de With', the annual festival taking place at Rotterdam's cultural hotspot, an enormous round shape will appear in the city. Do not fear; it's large, but it comes in peace!

Black Ball is big ball made out of felt and measures 4 meters in section. It will pop up at the most crazy places throughout Rotterdam, because MAMA thinks beyond the borders of her showroom!
With this Black Ball the artist Yvonne Dröge Wendell would like to create a series of stories by Rotterdammers about their city. The idea is to follow the trip as spontaneous as possible depending on the consternation and oh's and ah's that the ball evokes with the people it encounters.

Imagine this; a huge black ball that will start his journey at the - how appropriate- maternity-hotel at Zestienhoven, roaming the streets, passing the Erasmusbrug, doing lunch at Rob Baris's restaurant 'Het Gemaal' and sleeping in a golden cage at The Gay-Palace.

Be sure you'll be a part of this Rotterdam tale and do join the ball for a part of it's trip. Maybe you'll be interviewed by Radio Rijnmond, they will be following the ball for three days during the festival.

Black Ball is touring all over the world. It's started the journey in Leeuwarden in 2000, traveled on to Bolzano, Newcastle, Istanbul and Odense. Showroom MAMA is getting Black Ball back to the Netherlands where we can see in September how this spectacular object takes over the streets of Rotterdam!
