26 juni 2009 - 09 Augustus 2009 Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam Artists: a.o. Gyz La Rivière, Conny Janssen, Florian Waldvogel, Louisa Menke Deze zomer presenteert MAMA het multimediale project Endless City; een project waarin we de relatie tussen skateboardcultuur, de publieke ruimte en (beeldende) kunst onderzoeken, met een knipoog naar het gedachtegoed van de Internationale Situationisten. Endless City is een project dat uiteenvalt in vier verwante onderdelen met de tentoonstelling 720° (19 juni - 9 augustus)als centraal werk in onze showroom. De overeenkomsten tussen kunst en de skateboardcultuur -het verkennen van grenzen en het ter discussie stellen van heersende regels en opvattingen- biedt interessante mogelijkheden met betrekking tot het verkennen van nieuwe mogelijkheden en toepassingen van (het gebruik van) de publieke stedelijke ruimte. Het project combineert meerdere aspecten van de actuele tentoonstellingspraktijk, zowel in media, doelgroepen, als presentatievormen. Initiator van het project is MAMA / Stichting Public Art Squad, in samenwerkingen met Gyz La Rivière, Florian Waldvogel en Conny Janssen. Sleutelwerk in Endless City is een coproductie van MAMA en de Rotterdamse kunstenaar Gyz La Rivière, 720°, een nieuw te produceren video-installatie. Gyz La Rivière, Conny Janssen, Florian Waldvogel, Louisa Menke This summer MAMA will present the multimedial project Endless City; a project in which we investigate the relationship between skateboardculture, public space and (visual) arts, with a sidelong reference to the ideas of the International Situationists. Endless City is a project that disintegrates into four related parts featuring the exhibition 720˚ (June 19th - August 9th)as the central work in our showroom. The analogies between art and skateboardculture -the exploration of boundaries and bringing prevailing rules and notions up for discussion- offers interesting opportunities to explore new possibilities and utilizations for (the use of) urban public space. The project combines various aspects of contemporary exhibition practice, in media and audience as well as in presentation. Initiator of the project is MAMA / Public Art Squad Foundation, in collaboration with Gyz La Rivière, Florian Waldvogel and Conny Janssen.
