De tentoonstelling 'Ch Ch Ch Changes' presenteert het werk van zeven kunstenaars die onlangs, in de zomer van 2007, zijn afgestudeerd aan Nederlandse en Belgische kunstopleidingen. Het thema verwijst naar een lange reeks mythen over transformatie, waartoe de kunstenaars zich verhouden. Kameleon en meester in identiteitswisselingen David Bowie getuigde in het nummer 'Changes' van een dubbelhartige houding tegenover verandering. Ook de werken in de tentoonstelling lijken naar de bevrijdende kracht van verandering te verlangen, maar gaan tegelijkertijd gebukt onder een onderliggende angst voor het onbekende.
Vanuit lijnvoering (Visser, van Veluw, Paaijmans), bestaande objecten (Swinnen, de Clercq), of met het menselijke lichaam als uitgangspunt (Kranendonk, Vanbiervliet), ontstaan nieuwe wezens, die nog nagloeien van hun zojuist ondergane metamorfose. Ze voegen zich daarmee in een cyclus van verandering en heruitvinden.
Met het samenstellen van deze tentoonstelling besluiten zes jonge curatoren de derde editie van het Mr. Miyagi Curating Tomorrow Programma dat zij vanaf juni 2007 onder begeleiding van internationale mentoren en staf van MAMA volgden.
Extra: Tijdens de opening is er een speciaal gastoptreden van Nafer (Transformerz) met een eclectische geluidsmix voor de nacht.

The exhibition 'Ch Ch Ch Changes' presents work by seven artists who recently, in the summer of 2007, graduated from art academies in the Netherlands and Belgium. The theme refers to a long succession of transformation myths, to which the artists' work relates. Chameleon and master identity switching David Bowie demonstrates a double-faced attitude to change in the song 'Changes'. And the works in the exhibition also appear to long for the emancipating power of change, while being simultaneously weighed down by an underlying fear of the unknown.
Through the medium of drawing (Visser, van Veluw), existing objects (Swinnen, de Clercq) and by taking the human body as a point of departure (Kranendonk, Vanbiervliet), the artists bring new creatures alive, still smouldering from their recently endured metamorphosis. With this, they are joining a cycle of change and reinvention.
By compiling this exhibition, the six young curators have completed the third edition of the Mr. Miyagi Curating Tomorrow Programme, which they have followed since June 2007 under the supervision of international mentors and the staff of MAMA
