Het project We’ll Feed You is een installatie die bestaat uit twee componenten:
The Power of My Dreams van modevormgever Marga Weimans en Dadelpalm van kunstenaars Jasmina Fekovic en Maarten Claeyssens. Het betreft een bijzonder project met mode, video, performance en installatiekunst. Ter gelegenheid van De Wereld van Witte de With ontwikkelden Fekovic en Weimans dit project in opdracht van MAMA -in samenwerking met Arminius en in associatie met Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
The Power of My Dreams

Een oproep aan iedereen om dromen te realiseren Marga’s The Power of My Dreams is een performance die een overzicht geeft van de opzienbarende modecollecties 2002-2005 die zij maakte tijdens haar studie aan de wereldberoemde modeafdeling van de Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerpen.
De presentatie van haar modesilhouetten wordt muzikaal ondersteund door een stuk van de Antwerpse componist Boykot en een compleet gospelkoor.
The Power of My Dreams is een ode aan de kracht van dromen.
Weimans, van Surinaams-Creoolse afkomst, is gefascineerd door de verbazing en vervreemding die haar idealen oproepen bij zowel witte als zwarte mensen. De performance symboliseert meer dan alleen het innerlijk van Weimans; de installatie laat een nieuw, ongezien beeld zien van de zwarte vrouw en... “The Power of My Dreams is mijn oproep aan iedereen om dromen te realiseren.“

Een zoektocht naar innerlijke rust
De multimedia-video installatie Dadelpalm van Jasmina Fekovic en Maarten Claeyssens is een meditatieve installatie over het hart.
Volgens Jasmina begint de taal als teken, maar verliest deze zijn oorspronkelijke betekenis en eindigt als geluid.
De dadelpalm symboliseerde oorspronkelijk schoonheid. De oorsprong van de installatie ligt in de succesvolle poging van een groep wetenschappers in juni 2005 om een 2000 jaar oud zaadje van een uitgestorven dadelpalmsoort te laten ontkiemen. Het zaadje van de plant is daarmee het oudste ooit waaruit nieuw leven is gekomen.
In een interview met Anton Heyboer voor de documentaire Mathilde Willink Superpoes noteerde Jasmina de volgende uitspraak:
“Vrouw is Kut en Man is Lul, dit is de oudste taal die er bestaat; hieruit kun je alles herleiden.“
In Dadelpalm staan twee performers naast elkaar; Maarten is Man en Jasmina is Vrouw. Zij concentreren zich op het woord ‘dadelpalm’, als in een gebed. Dit gebed verplaatst zich op eigen kracht van de lippen en het hoofd naar een kernpunt in het hart.

De installatie is wellicht een reflectie van het leven dat zij leiden temidden van hun katten, maar hij symboliseert in algemene zin de symbiose van Vrouw en Man en hun zoektocht naar verlich-ting.
De kerkelijke setting fungeert als een klankkast om de transcendentie van performers en publiek te bevorderen. Men hoeft niet bang te zijn voor pastiche.
Omdat licht niet bestaat zonder duisternis zullen zij ook donkere klanken, dissonanten en ruis laten horen.
De kunstenaars zien de verduisterde Arminiuskerk als een plek om bij te komen van de culturele drukte tijdens het festival, de Wereld van Witte de With.

CV Marga Weimans
MargaWeimans (1970) studeerde als eerste Nederlander af aan de prestigieuze modeafdeling van de Academie van Schone Kunsten, waar ze pittige lessen kreeg van onder andere Walter van Beirendonck en Linda Loppa.
Met haar afstudeercollectie won Marga vorige maand tijdens de International Talent Support competitie (ITS4) in het Italiaanse Trieste de i-D award: een geldbedrag van 3000 engelse ponden en een photo shoot in het fameuze i-D magazine.
CV’s Jasmina Feckovic & Maarten Claeyssens
Jasmina Fekovic (1976) is bekend om haar
prijswinnende documentaires die zij samen met filmmaker Eddie van der Velden maakte; o.a. de films Jeff Buckley – Goodbye & Hello, Mathilde Willink Superpoes en Bokma Speelt en de interactieve CD-Rom Being Vincent Gallo. Opdrachtgevers zijn de VPRO en de AVRO. Ook in haar cv staan prijzen vermeld van o.a. het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds en het Internationale Film Festival Rotterdam.
Maarten Claeyssens (1975) is acteur en autonoom kunstenaar. Hij studeerde cum laude af van de prestigieuze theaterschool Toneelschool Dora Van der Groen. Sindsdien werkt hij in het theater en voor film en televisie, in Belgie en Nederland. Hij was 2 jaar lid van de vaste acteurskern van Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Daarnaast blijft Claeyssens werkzaam als freelance acteur bij o.a. De TIJD (Antwerpen) en Jonge Sla Produkties in Rotterdam.

The result is an exceptional project of fashion, video, performance and installation. Feckovic and Weimans has developed the project to coincide with the Wereld van Witte de With Festival is response to a commision by MAMA - in collaboration with Arminius and in association with Boijmans van Beuningen Museum.

An exhortation to everyone to realise dreams, Marga's The Power oo My Dreams is a performance that gives an overview of her visionary fashion collections from 2002 to 2005 that she made during her time at the world-renowned Fashion Department of the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Antwerp. The presentation of her fashion silhouettes will be musically accompanied by a piece by the Antwerp compser Boykot and a complete gospel choir.
The Power of My Dreams is an ode to the power of dreams. Weimans, who is of Surinamese-Creole origins, is fascinated by the amazement and alienation that he ideal vocation provokes in so many people, both white and black. The performance symbolises more than the subjective experience of Weimans. The installation offers a fresh view of the black woman and is........."my exhortation to everyone to realise dreams."

A quest for inner peace
The multimedia video installation, Dadelpalm by Jasmina Fekovic and Maarten Claeyssens is a meditative installation about the heart. Jasmina postualtes that language orginates as a symbolic but loses these orginal meanings when expressed as sound.
The Dadelpalm (The Date Palm) originally symbolised beauty. The origins of the installation lie in the succesful attempts by a group of scientists in June 2005 to germinate a 2000 year old seed of an extinct species of the Date Palm. This seed effectively became the oldest recorded from which new life was able to be grown.
In an interview with Anton Heyboer that Jasmina undertook for the documentary, "Mathilde Willink Superpoes," she was struck by the his statement, "Woman is pussy and Man is cock; that's the oldest language there is and you can trace everything back to this."
In Dadelpalmtwo performers stand beside each other; Maarten as Man, Jasmina as Woman. They focus their vision on the word, "Dadelpalm" (Date Palm) as if in prayer. The prayer examines the power of the lips and the head as expressive organs of the heart.

The intallation is apparently a reflection on the lives they lead amongst their cats, but symbolises more generally the symbiosis of Man and Woman in their quest for en(lighten)ment.
The eccelesiastic setting functions as a sound board for facilitating the transcendence of the performers and public. One need not be afraid of pastiche.
Because light cannot exist without darkness, they also use dark sounds; dissonant and jarring.
The artists see the darkened Arimius (church) as a place to escape the cultural crowds during the packed Wereld van Witte de With Festival.

CV Marga Weimans
Marga Weimans (1970) studied in the Fashion Department at the prestigious Royal Academy for Fine Arts, Antwerp; the first Dutch student to benefit from the challenging lessons from the likes of Walter van Beirendonck and Linda Loppa.
Last month at the International Talent Support Competition (ITS4) at Trieste in Italy, Marga's graduate collection was award the i-D Award that included a prize money of 3000 pounds sterling and a photo shoot for the famous magazine.

Jasmina Feckovic (1976) is known for her prize-winning documentaries that she has made together with filmmaker Eddy van der Velden; amongst others the films, "Jeff Buckley - Goodby and Hello", "Mathilde Willink Superpoes" and "Bokma Speelt" and the interactive CD-Rom, "Being Vincent Gallo". Maarten Claeyssens (1975) is an actor and autonoumous artist. He graduated cum laude from the prestigious Dora van der Groen Theatre School. He has since worked in theatre, film and television, both in Belgium and the Ndetherlands. For two years he was a member of the permanent company of Toneelgroep Amsterdam. He has subsequently chosen to work as a freelance actor with, amongst others, De Tijd (Antwerp) and Jonge Sla Productions (Rotterdam).
