Especially for the festival De Wereld van Witte de With we converted our new office to the extra exhibition space that's on our list. For three days we make space for the presentation DIY or DIE.
 

Dates: 12-13-14 September Friday 18:00 - 23:00 Saturday 12:00 - 23:00 Sunday 12:00 - 18:00 Location: MAMA office, Kromme Elleboog 35 Ons nieuwe kantoor op de Kromme Elleboog bouwen we speciaal voor het festival om tot de extra tentoonstellingsruimte die op ons verlanglijstje staat. Hier kunnen we drie dagen plek bieden aan de presentatie DIY or DIE. DIY or DIE toont de resultaten van ‘The Make Class’, een project van tweedejaars studenten Audiovisuele Vormgeving (Willem de Kooning Academie), geïnitieerd door mediakunstenaar Theodore Watson. ‘The Make Class’ is ontstaan vanuit de Do It Yourself  filosofie en de gedachte dat je in deze overdadige consumptiecultuur evengoed dingen zelf kan produceren. In dit project worden oude materialen en objecten ge-‘upcycled’. Dit gebeurt op zo’n manier dat de eindresultaten slimmer, economischer, functioneler etc. zijn dat het origineel. Gedurende het festivalweekend kan het publiek de objecten testen en genieten van de live demonstraties. Wilt u thuis de objecten namaken, neem dan de instructables mee en ga aan de slag! This is a project for second year students audiovisual design (Willem the Kooning Academy), initiated by media artist Theodore Watson. The Make Class comes forth from the Do It Yourself philosophy and the idea that you can produce your own things in this excessive consumption culture. For this project, old materials and objects were `upcycled’. This happens in such a way that the final results are more smart, economic, and functional etc. than the original. During the festival weekend the public can test the objects and enjoy live demonstrations.
