Show" als onderdeel van Germans & Angry Black
Bitches, waarin zij Barabara Brockhaus een verveelde secretaresse
portretteert. Haar hete en spicy fantasieen, verbeeld in diaprojecties,
tekeningen en muziek, zijn haar enige houvast en behoeden
Brockhaus van een kleurloze ondergang door het monotone kantoorleven.

Angie reed is een 'Italian / American' performer en kunstenaar,
woont en werkt in Berlijn. Voor the Barbara Brockhaus Show
werkte Angie samen met niemand minder dan Gonzales, en Patric
Catani van de Puppetmastaz en trad samen op met o.a. Peaches.
Hoewel ze de meeste bekendheid geniet als recording artist
op het “Chicks on Speed” label, is dit toch slechts
een nevenactiviteit. Het werk van Angie beweegt zich tussen
visuele kunst, performance en muziek. De muziek op haar meest
recente album is in feite de soundtrack bij haar conceptuele
performance van een uur, opgebouwd rondom de mythische figuur
van de secretaresse naam Barbara Brockhaus.
Voordat Angie Reed als performer in de belangstelling kwam
te staan had zij haar sporen al verdiend als beeldend kunstenaar.
Ze heeft haar opleiding gevolgd in Berlijn, waar ze tien jaar
heeft gewoond: ze werkt voornamelijk met tekeningen, video
en animatie. Er staan exposities op stapel in München,
Wolfsburg en later dit jaar bij de Kulturbank in Berlijn.
In showroom MAMA zijn Reed’s tekeningen in de expositie
“Germans and Angry Black Bitches” te zien.

the strange world of this bored secretary. Her spicy fantasies
-mapped out with the help of projections, drawings and music-
keep the monotonous office life at bay.

Angie Reed is an Italian/American artist and performer who
has lived and worked in Berlin for the last decade. For “The
Barbara Brockhaus Show” she worked with no lesser mortals
than Gonzales and Patric Catani of Puppetmastaz fame; performing
together with, amongst others, Peaches.
Although she is perhaps best known as an artist on the Chicks
on Speed label, this is, ironically, a sideline to her overall
artistic practice which involves working in hybrid forms involving
performance, music and more traditional visual forms. In effect,
her most recent album is a soundtrack to one such work; this
hour-long performance.
Prior to her transition to working in music, Angie Reed trained
as a visual artist, continuing studies in Berlin, working
predominantly in drawing, video and animation. Current and
recent exhibitions in Munich and Wolfsbrug will be followed
up with an exhibition at Kulturbank in Berlin later this year.
Angie’s contribution to the visual arts exhibition
for the project are on show in the exhibition at Showroom
MAMA.
