"Mixer" is a special performance event in Laff Box, the pop-up comedy club that is housed in MAMA until October 25.

On October 10 Laff Box presents four performances by international artists whose work explores the relationship between comedy and art: David Bernstein, Casey Jane Ellison, Philip Ewe and Kasia Fudakowski.
David Bernstein is a storyteller. Everyday objects are often central to his stories. He observes these with a humorous slant, revealing their potential for a different understanding. His work 'Packrat' is included in the exhibition and can also be experienced online.
On October 10, he will present a brand new performance titled "Even if it's not true, it's well found".

Through his video's and performance Philip Ewe investigates vulnerability and discomfort. His work often comes from chance encounters and confrontations with individuals who are not naturally within his own social circle.

Casey Jane Ellison is an LA-based artist and comedian. In her work, which manifests itself in performance, stand-up and on her youtube channel, the world of The Millennial becomes the main focus. She pokes fun at self-glory and the desire for status and explores the tension between the public image and the individual. During Mixer Ellison will sign through skype in from LA with a special app. Performing by avatar underlines the tension between the different layers of identity and self-absorption.

Kasia Fudakowski works with a wry sense of humor, often victimizing herself with her own actions. Last June Fudakowski willingly sabotaged her opportunity to win the prestigious Baloise prize at Art Basel Statements with the preformance Sexistinnen, Exercises in self-sabotage.
She reluctantly accepted our invitation to perform, nevertheless we are happy she will be joining us.
